Founded by Sally Hetherington, Samaky means ‘unity’ in Khmer, the language of Cambodia. Sally lived in Cambodia for over five years, and during that time helped many charities with their social media, website and fundraising needs.

Samaky was founded under the belief that NGO’s and individuals should be working together, and uniting to share their knowledge and experiences. The logo features a unicorn, as charity and NGO workers are often referred to as unicorns. In short, they work magic.

With over 10 years’ experience working and volunteering with charities, Sally realises that there are many charities doing excellent work, however, they don’t have the time to get the word out about their successes. To address this, Sally founded Samaky, which provides a range of affordable content creation services targeted at small and grassroots charities so they can focus on their great work without having to worry about promoting what they do!

Samaky provides a range of content creation services for charities, social enterprises and community groups. Our prices page lists our standard offerings, which includes blog writing, flyer design, social media management and website set up.  We are very flexible in what we can do, so please be sure to contact us if you have a need that isn’t on the list.

Samaky donates 10o% from every invoice to Human and Hope Association, a grassroots community centre in Cambodia. Sally worked with Human and Hope Association from 2012 – 2016 to build up this organisation. Human and Hope Association is now entirely locally run, with staff focusing on education, vocational training and community support programs to help their community break the cycle of poverty. “Sally has run the social media accounts for Human and Hope Association for several years, and our grassroots charity has a combined following of over 9,000 people. She conveys messages in inspiring and uplifting ways and keeps the dignity of our beneficiaries in the front of her mind. She has plenty of experience in running crowdfunding campaigns, grant writing, recruiting monthly donors and composing fundraising materials. I would highly recommend her for your charity’s needs.” – Thai San, Director, Human and Hope Association

“Samaky is a professional enterprise that helped us to organise social media marketing. They are very organised and have set a good marketing calendar plan. They brought more new followers to our social media accounts. Their fees are reasonable too.” – Suwanna Thananupradit, Life Interwoven

“Sally Hetherington is passion, commitment and service to others personified. I’ve known the effervescent Sally since 2009 when she was working in the banking sector and avidly volunteering at the Steve Waugh Foundation. Originally a member of our volunteer event team, Sally worked closely with me to research and develop the inaugural social media strategy and tools for the Foundation. Her connection to Rotaract and community networks were invaluable insights on how to engage volunteers and supporters.

She’s since applied her tenacity, ethics for hard work and integrity to serve in Cambodia and progressively develop and built a number of charities, improving their profiles and funding significantly. I’ve kept in touch with Sally throughout and delighted she is back in Australia, brimming with extremely valuable experiences to share and how to use online platforms to benefit business and charity communities. The Steve Waugh Foundation is all about ‘strength of character’ – the Sally I know has this quality in bucket loads!” – Trish van Leeuwen, Marketing Manager, Steve Waugh Foundation
